Murray Linn ‘15 graduated from ISKL on May 29, 2015 and just a few months later Murray was added to the Irish Munster Club team in preparation for the Limerick World Cup 7s tournament which took place on August 21 and 22, 2015. The Munster team placed sixth in this Limerick World cup after a loss to defending champions Daveta Fiji in the cup quarter-final. Munster then won against New York in the semi-final before losing to Buenos Aires in their final game of the tournament. Prior to competing with the Munster team, Murray competed with the Malaysian 7s for the prestigious U19 Hong Kong 7s tournament.
While at ISKL, Murray played rugby all four years, three of which were on the all-tournament team. He served as a captain for the Boys Varsity Rugby team last year and won IASAS bronze, silver, and two golds during his time on the team. Murray also played soccer for two years at ISKL, was on the track team for one year, and was awarded the Scott Smith award in Grade 11, an award for the most outstanding high school athlete. In Grade 12 he focused solely on rugby, both at ISKL and in clubs. He played an instrumental role in our championship win for gold at IASAS 2015 in Bangkok in late January 2015. According to his ISKL rugby coach, Garreth Allum, Murray “dominated IASAS rugby for three years as an ISKL player, captain, and leader and it is great to see him going and living his dream of playing rugby.”
This summer Murray’s rugby skill and expertise worked to the advantage of the Munster team and he will continue playing rugby at University College Cork where he will be attending university this coming year.
