HoS News December 9, 2022

As part of this week’s Christmas Around the World celebrations, our Elementary students were asked to write and hang gratitude and wishes cards on the ES Wishing Tree. Here are just a few examples of the heartwarming sentiments they shared ….

CAW Students Wishes

It is inspiring to see our students consciously appreciative of what they have in their lives and being aware of the world around them. It is also rewarding to see their wishes so closely reflect our Vision, Know yourself, care for all, and create a better world. As you will probably have heard me say many times, I deeply believe in the power of education in creating a better future for everyone, and reading our students’ messages reminded me of the importance of our role as educators in helping to shape the next generation of global citizens who act with care, empathy, and understanding toward each other and the environment.

In addition to the ES Wishing Tree, students also had the fun of exploring Christmas Around the World through the amazing displays, activities, and performances created by the PTA. A huge thank you to the many parents who put so much time and energy into transforming the Melawati Theatre into a Christmas wonderland and making it such a magical experience. As you will see from the photos in ES News, it was very much enjoyed by our students (and faculty and staff!).

In addition to ES activities, this week has been filled with joyous experiences school-wide including the MS Strings and Choir Concert (December 7) and MS Band Concert (December 8). As a pianist and former student of music, I recognize the commitment, hard work, and many hours of practice our students put into making the concert such a success and congratulate them on a wonderfully uplifting musical experience that was so appreciated by the audience.

If you missed the concerts, the good news is that we also have the ES Grade 5 Band and Strings Concert (December 13) and student-choreographed MS/HS Dance Show Scentsational (December 14) to look forward to next week.

In our final week of Semester 1, we will also be celebrating the early graduation of Christopher C. and Yeonsoo K. (December 15). Everyone is welcome to join us in celebrating their achievements and wishing them well for the future at the Early Graduation Ceremony. We will also be officially welcoming them into our alumni community, who fittingly are invited to our very last on campus event for 2022, the Alumni Holiday Luau BBQ (December 16) which promises to be a great way to wrap up what has been a wonderful semester!
