Running in the Family, a memoir of his family’s life and culture in Sri Lanka. After growing up far from his relatives, Mr. Ondaatje returned to Sri Lanka to delve into his childhood memories and the lives of his family.

The ISKL Slam Poetry team participated in the 4th Annual Slam Poetry Festival (SNaPs) at Sunway International School. Along with nine other international schools from around the nation (over 50 presenters in all), we went head-to-head with young, inspiring poets. We were confident our bards had written pieces that would both challenge the intellect and otherwise delight the listeners – apparently, the poets made the right choices.
Grade 1 students from Melawati went to see the play “Emily Brown and The Thing”. The play was a stage adaptation of the illustrated children’s book of the same name by Cressida Cowell (writer of How To Train Your Dragon) and Neal Layton.
It started with the projects to improve the common space for our cleaning ladies and has now morphed into teaching bus monitors ways to enhance their communication with ISKL students through greater proficiency in the English language.
Famous children’s book author, Marissa Moss, shared her passion for writing and illustration during Book Week at our Melawati Campus.
