This past week the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) participated in the worldwide Inclusive Schools Week sponsored by the Inclusive Schools Network.
George Jahnke from Touch NZ was at ISKL during the last week of November to run a series of coaching and training sessions for ISKL Touch, Rugby and PE students and coaches. George is a Touch legend, having represented New Zealand more than 100 times at Open and Masters level.
This past week, our music department had the honor to welcome Dr. Jeffrey Boeckman from the University of Hawai‘i, Mānoa as a conducting guest artist. His time here started with a Conducting Symposium in the Robert B. Gaw Theatre where he was able to give an incredible experience to local Malaysian conductors and music students.
Born without arms and legs, Koch is no stranger to barriers but he also acknowledges that “everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.” He believes everyone deserves empathy and when encountering our own struggles it’s all a matter of perspective.
AERO mathematics and science consultant, Erma Anderson recently conducted a three-day mathematics course: Mathematics Specialists in International Schools (MSIS) for Elementary School and Middle School mathematics teachers.
Reading broadens students’ knowledge and perspectives, enhances writing and language skills, improves focus and concentration and, most of all, reading stimulates learners’ minds.
“When you look back, these High School years will be nothing more than a blip. So, you might as well enjoy the trip” (Lin Manuel Miranda). I feel like these words perfectly encapsulate the remarkable, breathtaking nature of being a part of this year’s musical.
Working with a professional dance company is certainly inspiring for ISKL’s dancers.
