ISKL BATIK

ISKL in 60 Seconds

ISKL students live throughout Kuala Lumpur. Conveniently located 3km from Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC), our campus is close to arterial roads and serviced by a dedicated school bus network. Around 70% of our students travel by bus to and from school including dedicated school buses that allow for students to participate in any of our extensive co-curricular activities.

Popular residential areas include:

  • Ampang Hilir, U-Thant and Jalan Ampang where there are many excellent quality condos and houses. Just over a quarter of students taking the bus live in these areas whilst others walk or ride their bikes to school.
  • KLCC, Persiaran Hampshire, Persiaran KLCC and Bukit Ceylon are home to more than 20% of our students.
  • Many ISKL families live in Mont Kiara, Sri Hartamas, Bangsar and Damansara – almost 40% of students who take the bus to school each day travel from these suburbs.

While there is no formal deadline to apply, enrollment in all school divisions is running at or near capacity with limited vacancies for new students. We therefore encourage you to apply as soon as possible. The Admissions team will respond to your application as quickly as possible, generally within five working days.

High School students can enroll anytime until April 1. Elementary and Middle School students can enroll anytime until May 1.

Screening is required for all applicants to Prep Reception, Prep Junior, and Prep Senior. In some instances, students applying for Grades 1 to 12 may be required to complete an admissions screening.

After admission is confirmed, placement testing (if required) is administered to ensure appropriate class placement (such as a specific level of a foreign language or a specific level of mathematics).

Learning a new language takes time and it is important for your child to be supported. At ISKL, our language specialists and classroom teachers work together as a team to ensure the best academic outcome possible within a comfortable, social framework that enables your child to benefit from all our school has to offer. Depending on the grade level, our English as an Additional Language (EAL) program is available to students with limited or no English proficiency.

Regardless of the level of proficiency, the goal of our EAL team is the same – to work in partnership with students and parents to support multilingual learners, enable them to take advantage of the many opportunities our school has to offer, and ultimately fulfill their potential.

Please click here to find out more about ISKL’s EAL program and if you have any further questions, please contact the Admissions team at [email protected]

Every effort is made to place students in the appropriate grade based on academic experience and chronological age. For the majority of applicants coming from U.S. curriculum schools, there is no change in grade level. Applicants coming from countries where the academic calendar differs from ISKL’s August to June calendar may find themselves remaining an additional semester in a grade level due to this calendar difference. A grade placement equivalent chart can be found here.

For Prep Reception (3 years old), Prep Junior (4 years old), Prep Senior (5 years old), and Grade 1 (6 years old), grade placement is determined by the child’s age by September 1. For Grade 2 – 12, grade-level placement depends on the child meeting the relevant age by September 1, the child’s current curriculum and grade level, as well as academic ability within their grade level.

Please contact Admissions at [email protected] if you have any questions regarding grade-level placement.

ISKL policy states that students must be in full-time residence with at least one parent or a legal guardian while in attendance. Please direct questions regarding guardianship to the Admissions team at the time of inquiry or application.

ISKL does not offer boarding facilities as we are a day school. All students are required to reside with their parent/s or a legal guardian while attending ISKL.

ISKL does not process student visas for new students. ISKL has a policy for new applicants that states that all non-Malaysian students must have an appropriate visa that is associated with their parent’s work permit. Other non-Malaysian students can also apply if their family has Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) status, or if they have Permanent Residence in Malaysia.

ISKL is a very happening school, make sure to check our calendar to not miss any of our events. ISKL’s downloadable calendar details semester start and end dates, ISKL holidays, IASAS events, GAP and Malaysia Week’s programs. ISKL calendar is available for view or download under the School Life section: https://www.iskl.edu.my/school-life/calendar/

Students represent ISKL by wearing an identifiable school uniform whilst observing a strict dress code.  Each school division is delineated by color with the design accommodating comfort in the Malaysian climate. Find out more about ISKL’s uniform here.
