Student Services Philosophy

SUPPORT

Exceptional education is at the forefront of ISKL’s reputation and is evident throughout the support and resource systems integrated within every aspect of teaching and learning.

ISKL’s collaborative, multidisciplinary team is committed to helping students realize their potential by addressing their social-emotional, behavioral, linguistic and academic needs holistically using the evidence-based Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) inclusion model.

The Student Services body of committed experts includes English as an Additional Language (EAL), Learning Resource (LR) and counseling professionals who work alongside classroom teachers to focus on an individualized approach.  This in turn, fosters growth in all levels of academic as well as social-emotional learning.  Each element goes hand in hand to support long-term developmental goals.

THE GIFT OF SUPPORT

The team’s innate ability to build and work upon targeted areas for every student is prioritized.  They encourage curiosity, build competencies and tap into strengths for gained confidence and growth in learning.

Our Full Student Services team includes:

  • Counselors
  • Teachers
  • Specialist Educators
  • Educational Psychologists
  • Speech Language Pathologist (Elementary School & LCE Program only)

The Life-Centered Education (LCE) program is one facet of the continuum of services we are proud to provide. LCE has been designed to meet the needs of students with intensive special education needs who require individualized academic and social skills instruction. Customized support and instruction is provided by highly trained special educators and assistant teachers who focus on teaching literacy, mathematics, social skills, and life skills to every student. Additionally, students are integrated into our school elective classes and optional after school activities.

SENIA Inclusive School

As part of ISKL’s long-standing commitment to inclusive education, we are a Special Education Network & Inclusion Association (SENIA) member school. SENIA is a leader in inclusive practices within international schools. As a SENIA member school, our staff and faculty receive regular access to training in evidence-based practices and networking with other leading experts and practitioners in international schools. This membership is just one of the ways we remain current in best practices for inclusion.
