I decided to use the RM2,000 I won from the Harvard Prize Book Award to help fill the hospital’s need by supporting the purchase of personal protective equipment for the hard-working, selfless medical professionals and families at the cancer ward.
Together, in partnership, we can achieve many things. So, keep up with your efforts to contribute to the local and global aims and communities to overcome this pandemic.
This is where having a timer or a fitness device telling us to get up and move periodically proves to be helpful. Sure, we may feel ‘interrupted’ by the message ‘Move!’ coming from the devices and timers we set.
Working with an international organization helped us with our communication and collaboration skills, in terms of our teamwork and working with someone of such high caliber. We learned how to get out of our comfort zone and be part of a cause that is bigger than ourselves.
It started with the projects to improve the common space for our cleaning ladies and has now morphed into teaching bus monitors ways to enhance their communication with ISKL students through greater proficiency in the English language.
ISKL Community came forth with their help so generously and willingly that truly we should be proud.
Recently, our Green Council played host to the Green Club from SriKDU. It was a very productive few hours with a variety of activities facilitated by our Green Council members and Sustainability Coordinator. Our visitors received an “eco highlight tour” of our Ampang campus and were duly impressed.
