A common question among prospective parents is ‘What is an international school?’
Typically, international schools have a broad range of international students, follow an international curriculum, and offer more flexibility than government-run or private schools.
The school is an Eco-School Model for other International schools to follow and learn. They are a showcase of the benefits of the eco-school program. ISKL is always thinking about cost savings without decrementing its education standards.
We are delighted to welcome Malaysian Paralympic athlete, Muhamad Ashraf Bin Muhammad Haisham (Ashraf), and his trainers to ISKL as we commence a new partnership with the Malaysian Paralympic Development Program for their athletes to use our excellent facilities to train in the lead-up to the games in Tokyo in September 2020.
As parents and educators, we understand how important a connection to the natural world is and how crucial it is for young children. To see and touch butterflies, birds, worms and lizards, not to mention flowering and edible plants, enhances every child’s understanding and wonder of the world around them.
ISKL’s Elementary School Grade 2 teacher, Alex Lancia had heard these words too many times. The tub where his second graders store their headphones was resulting in many being broken. He decided to do something about it. He asked his students to try to solve the problem of where to put their headphones so they won’t get broken.
Many families choose to live in Ampang because of its strategic location – home to the International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL), a short distance from the city centre with easy access to wider Klang Valley. Ampang is ideal for family day trips to local attractions nearby or even a weekend getaway to the nearby Genting Highlands.
HS teacher Amy Popovich gathered a team of HS students to conduct a food waste audit that led them to start the new MS/HS composting program.
“When you look back, these High School years will be nothing more than a blip. So, you might as well enjoy the trip” (Lin Manuel Miranda). I feel like these words perfectly encapsulate the remarkable, breathtaking nature of being a part of this year’s musical.
The grand piano is a much-cherished new addition to the ISKL Music Department and was purchased with the assistance of a grant from ISKL’s community-supported Inspiration Fund.
