Together, in partnership, we can achieve many things. So, keep up with your efforts to contribute to the local and global aims and communities to overcome this pandemic.
Like so many business enterprises, many vegetables and fruits were wasted due to transportation restrictions. Some farmers took it upon themselves to arrange deliveries of their produce directly to their customers. Such efforts remind us that we can rethink the traditional business models to adapt to the ‘new normal.’
Inclusive School Week 2019 has passed, but what it started in terms of our awareness and advocacy work should be continued.
This is a continuing question that ISKL, as a school community, is also engaging with – through different activities with community partnership programs and sustainability practices with various groups and NGOs in KL and beyond.
I think my biggest takeaway from all four years teaching refugees was that these children/teens are no different to us in terms of their willingness to learn. I learned that I am quite privileged to go to a school like ISKL and be able to learn with the facilities that they had. I am also quite happy to have been able to give back!
We had to organize this experience fairly quickly as the food needs were urgent. So far, 38 people have donated, with the total fundraised being RM11,855.
Working with an international organization helped us with our communication and collaboration skills, in terms of our teamwork and working with someone of such high caliber. We learned how to get out of our comfort zone and be part of a cause that is bigger than ourselves.
