In line with ISKL’s Constitutional mandate to serve primarily the children of expatriate families living in Malaysia (Art. IV), the Board holds the Head of School accountable for maintaining a fair and transparent admissions process. In particular, the Head of School shall admit candidates who can benefit from and contribute to our Mission and the School’s standards-based, university and college-preparatory curriculum delivered in the English language. Furthermore, the Head of School shall ensure that the rights of current students take precedence over those of candidates.
The Board holds the Head of School accountable for defining the academic, physical, emotional, social and behavioral criteria candidates must meet for acceptance into the School. In particular, the Head of School shall only admit candidates if sufficient space and resources are available to meet their academic, physical, emotional, social and behavioral needs. The Head of School has the absolute right to refuse admission to any candidate, and there shall be no right to appeal to the Board.

The Board holds the Head of School accountable for accepting candidates in the priority listed below. All candidates must meet the admissions criteria stated above before they will be considered in the priority system.
When the School enrollment is within 5 (five) percent of capacity within any grade level, the Head of School may at his or her discretion vary the selection process to optimize the benefit to the School.
The Board holds the Head of School accountable for proposing to the Board for admission to the Society only those parents and/or guardians of candidates who have met all other admissions requirements as stipulated in these policies. The proposal shall be made and the decision communicated to the candidate’s parents or guardian in a timely manner.
The Board holds the Head of School accountable for ensuring a diverse student body to help students develop as global citizens. In particular, the Head of School shall manage admissions such that no nationality exceeds 25 percent of the student population. Furthermore, the Head of School shall ensure that the number of students admitted to each division, grade level and class is appropriate to promote student learning.
