ISKL has continued its long-held tradition of outperforming global averages in this year’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and Advanced Placement (AP) examinations.

With an average IB score of 34 points and a 97 per cent pass rate, ISKL students were placed well above the global average which this year dropped to 30.24 points from the previous year’s 32 points and the global pass rate (not yet published) which is historically around 80 percent.

Three ISKL students achieved a perfect score of 45 points, placing them in the top one percent of IBDP candidates globally. 13 percent of students scored 40 or more points, results that typically place students in the top 10 percent of global IB Diploma scores. 23% of students achieved a Bilingual Diploma.

In AP exams, which can earn students credits and/or advanced placement at colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada, 76 percent of ISKL students scored either 4 or 5. This score represents students who are very well qualified or extremely well qualified respectively. The average ISKL AP subject score was 4 out of a possible 5 points.

2023 AP results

Congratulating the cohort of over 120 IB candidates and almost 90 AP candidates, ISKL’s Head of School Mr. Rami Madani said the results “demonstrate our robust academic pathways and reflect the hard work and support of our students, parents, and teachers. We are mindful that this cohort, like students worldwide, also experienced the challenges of the pandemic and we are extremely proud of their resilience and determination to succeed. We look forward to seeing all they will go on to accomplish and the contribution they will make to creating a better world”.

This year saw a record number of ISKL students earning the Bilingual Diploma in Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. Mr Madani said, “The Bilingual Diploma involves students taking IB Language and Literature courses in two different languages and we are delighted to see our highest-ever number of students choosing to take this path. With more than 70 nationalities represented at ISKL and around 40 home languages spoken, we foster multilingualism schoolwide. In addition to contributing to our inclusive learning environment, it also ultimately builds a more interconnected and understanding global community.”

ISKL’s High School academic program is unique in its flexibility, offering students the options of the IB Diploma Programme and the bespoke Pursuits Program which enables students to combine individual IB, AP, and High School Diploma courses to create an individualized program of study.
