Sam Scott – Middle and High School Drama

Wow! What a fantastic four days we have had with Sam Scott our Artist in Residence from Massive Company. Sam is the founder and artistic director of MASSIVE Company based in Auckland, New Zealand. Massive (formerly the Maidment Youth Theatre MYT) specializes in working with young people and emerging artists. Sam has extensive experience working in secondary schools, as a tutor, and as a director.

Sam was motivating, exciting, dynamic and incredibly full of life. She shared with both our HS and MS students her love of theatre and this passion was truly alive in her teaching and facilitating. Both students and teachers alike gained an incredible amount of knowledge from her residency and we all feel very privileged to have worked alongside Sam.

Thank you to the Inspiration Fund and to all who helped make this residency as wonderful as it was. It is so fantastic to be part of a community that supports the arts and gives our students these opportunities.

Dr. Mark Fonder – Middle and High School Music

Dr. Mark Fonder, Professor Emeritus Ithaca College NY and Inspiration Fund Grant recipient has been working with the music department for the past week. He is working with Middle and High School string and band students to become better musicians and to inspire them a little bit more. He also presented a lecture for area music teachers on new ways of presenting concerts to make them fit for our modern society.

Dr. Fonder has also graciously agreed to sponsor the Mark Fonder Young Conductors Award. Tanmay Gupta was the winner. Tanmay worked with Dr. Fonder on his conducting and led the massed band in concert last Thursday. Thank you to Dan Miles for initiating and organizing this visiting artist.
