YBhg. Datuk Dr. Param Jeeth Singh, State Director of Health, Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya Health Department who visited the Centre on opening day said, “ISKL is the location for the first international school vaccination Centre in Kuala Lumpur and will serve the private and international schools in the area. I am extremely impressed with the organization and logistics and thank all those involved.  We are very pleased to have commenced the vaccination program for 12 to 17-year-olds and anticipate around 18,000 students will receive their vaccination at the ISKL Centre. It is an important milestone in our fight against COVID-19”.

ISKL’s Head of School, Mr. Rami Madani said, “Along with students from nearby international schools, more than 600 ISKL students aged between 12 and 17 were vaccinated on the first day and we look forward to welcoming many more students from private and international schools in KL over the coming weeks. We are delighted to have this opportunity to support the wider community as well as our own. It speaks to ISKL’s mission of working in partnership with communities around us”.

Mr. Madani continued, “We are also extremely appreciative of our parent and staff volunteers who answered our call to help us with screening and registering students. Their response and willingness to help typifies ISKL’s spirit of community involvement and care for others. We are also delighted to have the support from parents and staff in nearby schools – it is a wonderful example of communities working together in partnership”.

Among the first to receive the vaccine was fifteen-year-old ISKL student Rika Singh who said, “I think it’s great that ISKL is a Vaccination Centre because we have such great facilities and it’s good to be used for the ISKL community as well as the KL community so I was really glad that we got approved as a Centre”. Another student commented that “The vaccination program for me was pretty seamless, everything worked quickly, it was just in, get the jab and walk out. It didn’t feel like much, to be honest!”

Parents were also delighted that their children were able to receive the vaccine, their comments included “I think ISKL being a Vaccination Centre is convenient, it’s in the middle of the city and there’s a lot of parking available for folks to come and get their vaccination” and “The organisation was amazing. It was so fast, it was quick, no pain, so students don’t worry at all!”

The Adolescent COVID-19 Vaccination Centre at ISKL is by appointment only and walk-ins are not permitted. The Vaccination Centre at ISKL will be in operation until November 7, 2021.
