Health services are available to provide support for students during weekend and after school sporting events activities. There is also a dedicated sports physiotherapist on campus who supports our ISKL athletes.
ISKL’s health clinics also serve as a resource for any health-related issues for students, families, and the classroom. The nurses actively collaborate with medical organizations and professionals in Malaysia and the World Health Organization and are active members of the International School Nurses of Asia organization. These resources ensure the school community is updated on such relevant topics as tropical diseases, local and global health issues, and evidence-based school health.

While there are no special immunizations required by Malaysia and malaria pills are not necessary in Kuala Lumpur, there are two recommended immunizations:
As Malaysia has a high rate of Tuberculosis (TB), ISKL requires proof of TB screening at Grade 2, Grade 6 and Grade 9. This can be done either as a skin test (Mantoux or PPD skin test), chest x-ray or Quantiferon Gold blood test. If your child is five years or younger and has received a BCG immunization as an infant, please provide the date/s it was given.
If a child is to be exempted from meeting the immunization requirement for medical reasons, a written statement from a doctor is required. The statement must include: (1) which immunization(s) is to be exempted, (2) the specific nature of the medical condition and (3) the probable duration of the medical condition. If the child is to be exempted from meeting the immunization requirement for reasons of personal beliefs, the parent/guardian must sign an affidavit available at Admissions or the school nurse.
ISKL recognizes that there are people with life-threatening food allergies and makes accommodations to ensure their safety and well-being. One of the most common causes of severe allergies is peanuts/nuts. The allergy can be triggered by eating nuts, eating food that has been in contact with nuts and/or nut oils, and sometimes even by touching nuts or items contaminated by nuts (i.e. doorknobs, handrails, library books, etc).
Because of the serious nature of severe allergies, ISKL has taken steps to help ensure student safety while at school. Students at ISKL who have been identified with severe allergies are allowed to carry medication with them that they can administer themselves.
While no area can be guaranteed completely free of any nut contamination, all divisions have made efforts to ensure that the environment is safe for students. While our campus cafeteria operator does not use nut products or nut oils, there are differences in other precautions due to the nature of the classrooms and age levels of the students. Allergens are clearly displayed on the menu and there are vegetarian/vegan options available.
