ISKL’s PTA President, Annie Gillis shares her insights on the benefits of getting involved in your school community.
A holistic education at ISKL extends well beyond classroom learning and includes a comprehensive program of “service learning” opportunities where students are encouraged to get involved and make hands-on, positive changes within local communities.
The annual Kids 4 Kids Party was recently held at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital. ISKL K4K, also known as Kids 4 Kids, is a nonprofit organization where ISKL students volunteer to spend time with cancer children at the Pediatric Cancer Ward in KL Hospital.
Since last school year, with the request from PEMANDU, ISKL has been collaborating with the Ministry of Education Malaysia to work with teachers from several public schools in the KL district by implementing the Dual Language Program (DLP). This year, the first session began on November 9, 2017, with a cohort of 24 teachers participating from eight different public schools at both the Ampang and Melawati Campuses.
On Saturday, September 30 at the Selangor branch of Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), ISKL Middle School and High School students were recognized for their contribution with the Most Supportive School award.
The event, which took place in conjunction with World Animal Day, was attended by the Duli Yang Maha Mulia, Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin who presented ISKL Middle School and High School with certificates of appreciation.
ISKL could not thank enough its amazing Parent Community. The ISKL Parent Volunteer Appreciation Brunch recognized our parent volunteers who serve graciously and tirelessly on our PTA every year
It started with the projects to improve the common space for our cleaning ladies and has now morphed into teaching bus monitors ways to enhance their communication with ISKL students through greater proficiency in the English language.
On March 17, ISKL’s annual Terry Fox Run raised funds for cancer research and honored Terry Fox’s effort in increasing cancer awareness.
