We all make memories throughout our lives, and some of our fondest recollections are formed at school. So how can The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) help support parents in cultivating the love of learning and discovery for young learners?
On average over 90% of our Elementary School (ES) students are participating in at least one of the 100 After School Activity (ASA) options offered from Monday through Thursday. ASAs provide enriched learning experiences that are engaging, challenging, innovative, and inspirational. These programs help nurture both the mind and body. ASAs help build and promote social bonds by forming friendship connections across grade-level divisions. They are one of the biggest highlights of our co-curricular program.

Activities All-Around!
Our inquisitive young learners in their discovery stage have the chance to participate in a variety of activities at ISKL. You can spot a Panther engaging in activities on the track and trail, court and studio, and pitch and pool where they learn collaboration, camaraderie, and commitment through varied activities. To name just a few,
- Gymnastics
Our young Panthers looking to increase their flexibility and engage in some fitness fun can look into gymnastics. Students will be able to learn basic sports movements and gain self-confidence. - Soccer
Our grassy turf pitch is open to boys and girls who are into soccer! Students play a game each week where they will also get to pick up a new skill or two. - Chess
Beyond physical involvement, students can participate in chess which promotes in-depth thinking and strategy.
In addition, ISKL offers Saturday Sports Programs which are always packed. These programs focus on providing a fun, safe environment to develop athletic and social skills through drills and games. The aim is to foster a love of being active for life from a very young age.
Beauty of Creativity
In a world dominated by technology, the power of imagination is essential in creating a spark in a child’s mind. Creativity is celebrated here at ES, and we offer a wide range of opportunities embedded within our curriculum and co-curricular activities, such as:
- Painting Like Picasso
A place where budding Picassos explore the basics of color mixing and using shapes to draw and create age-appropriate masterpieces. - Creative Clay Crafting
If your child prefers a more hands-on approach, they may sign up for Creative Clay Crafting. The lessons work with modern creative materials and enhance independent thinking through the fun learning concept. - Allegro Ukelele
Looking for an easy-to-learn first instrument? Allegro Ukelele is an excellent choice for students who want to have fun with music and parents who want to see quick progress. Bonus Point: The instrument is easy to carry around, too!
Finding Joy in Service
Here at ES, our learners are guided by The Melawati Way, a code of behavior that encourages students to “Take Care of Yourself, Take Care of Others, and Take Care of This Place.” The Melawati Way is not just part of our curriculum; it is woven into the fabric of the co-curricular program via Service Learning opportunities, such as:
- Red Hats
Red Hats are role models for other students as they follow The Melawati Way. The Red Hats make the morning announcements, assist at school assemblies and coordinate many community service projects. - Social Changemaker
There are various ways to make a difference in today’s world, one of them is by being a social changemaker. Our Panthers are shown how a simple act can have the most significant impact. - Cross Divisional Opportunities
Gardening Clubs in High School, Middle School, and Elementary School often worked together, establishing a partnership where ideas were shared and students met on certain days for activities such as making healthy smoothies using plants from the garden.
