Why Give To ISKL And Other Questions

ISKL is a not-for-profit, parent-owned school whose only shareholders are the students we serve. As such, through effective governance, a strong administration, and a committed parent community, ISKL has been providing our students with the best possible learning experience and environment, relying primarily on tuition fees. While COVID-19 impacted the whole world and reinforced our educational beliefs and mission-driven approach to learning, the required improvement to our current learning environment will be delayed if we rely just on tuition. ISKL needs the philanthropic support of our entire community to make ISKL’s aspirations for its learning environment a reality.

In August 2022, as ISKL and the world were coming out of the pandemic, we decided to look into the structure of our donation funds and recategorize all the various historical funds into three categories within the “Inspire Campaign”: People, Places, and Programs. The previous funds were carefully analyzed and recategorized to the closest category. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the recategorization of funds, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

INSPIRE PEOPLE

The INSPIRE PEOPLE campaign supports the ISKL Pathways Scholarship Program. This scholarship will provide students with a fully-funded four-year study of the High School program, from Grades 9 to 12, at ISKL. It will be awarded to deserving and inspirational students who are passionate about achieving the competencies to make a positive impact and be nurtured and guided in further developing their passions and understanding of the world to transform themselves, others, and the environment.

INSPIRE PLACES

The INSPIRE PLACES campaign supports ISKL’s mission to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students by funding innovative and sustainability-focused projects, places, and partnerships.

INSPIRE PROGRAMS

The INSPIRE PROGRAMS campaign supports the Inspiration Fund, established to allow members of our community to collaboratively give back to ISKL for the benefit of current and future students. The aim is to provide a learning experience that is truly inspirational and encourages student excellence. Inspiration Fund projects complement ISKL’s rigorous and impactful curriculum, giving students every opportunity to succeed as spirited global citizens.

Our campaigns offer all in the community the chance to participate and join us in ensuring the delivery of a world-class facility supporting a world-class education.

Naming opportunities

ISKL welcomes conversation with corporations and families for whom a signature naming opportunity would be appropriate. For corporate partners, we can discuss a relationship involving signage and exposure for naming and branding (upon approval by the ISKL Board of Directors) and usage of facilities.

The vision is to ensure that our ISKL campus is available to the wider community in Kuala Lumpur, and as such, wider exposure for our corporate partners is offered. Families may choose to name a space for their family or honor a loved one. For many years, the iconic campus design will serve as a fitting and significant place for our partners.

Classroom naming is offered for 10 years, after which the school reserves the right to provide the naming to another family. Gifts for other spaces will extend for the life of the school.

The naming of spaces on the Ampang Hilir Campus is meaningful, and as such, the ISKL Board will approve the naming of all spaces

Honor a member of the ISKL community

When considering a gift to support the ISKL community, honoring a teacher who impacted your life or your child’s life is a beautiful gesture, and a naming opportunity for a classroom or special project could be arranged based on request.

Named programs

As per ISKL’s vision and mission, donors will have new opportunities to support or complement existing programs. The named programs could be sponsored guest speakers or experts providing masterclasses to benefit students (would need to be multi-grade). The donation would need to cover the program’s cost for a minimum of 3 years.

Give to INSPIRE gifts

ISKL would welcome gifts to any of the Give to INSPIRE programs (Inspire People, Inspire Places, Inspire Programs). If you don’t have a specific program in mind, you can make an unrestricted gift. We will pool the money raised to fund the projects based on their contribution to achieving ISKL’s vision and mission.

Every.org
US taxpayers can make a tax-efficient gift through our partnership with Every.org

Through our affiliation with Every.org, US taxpayers can make a gift to support ISKL and receive a tax deduction for that gift. Malaysian tax law does not allow local taxpayers to claim tax relief for gifts to ISKL at this time.

The Inspire campaign comprises three categories of donations allocated based on approved school initiatives within one to two academic years. Endowments are permanently restricted funds, traditionally designated for a particular purpose; the principal is invested, and only interest is spent.

Both of these parent-run organizations raise money annually in support of ISKL. By combining efforts, we hope to have a greater impact on current students by funding strategic priorities.

Every gift counts, and every gift is important! We welcome all contributions, big or small.
