“A wonderful opportunity to involve parents in our collaborative approach and start the year with a common understanding and goals”.
I particularly like this quote from HS teacher, Sharon Peters, not only because it neatly frames the intent of our Open House but also because it captures the spirit of Open House itself – partnership, collaboration, and unity between school and family in achieving our mission and vision for each student. Open House is the first of many opportunities throughout the year for us to work in partnership and we hope you found the videos informative, useful, and inspiring.
School-wide, over 500 videos were recorded and special thanks go to our teachers and tech team for the many hours spent creating engaging and insightful content and uploading them. It was a huge effort and judging by the feedback we have received from parents, very much appreciated. One of the benefits of a virtual Open House is that the videos will be available until April 2022 for you to watch and make a great reference point as the year progresses.
Everyone at ISKL is on a learning journey – not only our students. We are a learning community and on Monday when our students are enjoying a break, our faculty and staff will be united virtually to participate in an in-service day dedicated to professional development. The focus of Monday’s in-service centers around the theme of connection, care, and empathy and on addressing the learning goals of each school division. During the day our faculty will be exploring and sharing ways to best support the social and emotional needs of our students, create connections, and foster student engagement.
On Tuesday, August 31, Malaysia will, of course, be celebrating Merdeka Day. Thank you to our PTA for creating the opportunity to celebrate as a community via the All Things Malaysia Family Challenge which starts today. For those who would like to know more about some of the defining moments in Malaysia’s history, please take a look at Jom Belajar (#JomBelajarwithISKL on social media). We wish everyone an enjoyable extended weekend. We hope that the easing of restrictions makes life a little easier for your family and wish everyone Selamat Menyambut Hari Merdeka yang ke 64 – Happy 64th Independence Day!
