ISKL has always taken pride in its approach to sustainability, having been a recipient of the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award since 2013 – an internationally recognized award for excellence in environmental action and learning.
Remember to Breathe. Take breaks– Make time to unwind and remind yourself that strong feelings will fade. Try taking in deep breaths. Try to do activities you usually enjoy.
This is a continuing question that ISKL, as a school community, is also engaging with – through different activities with community partnership programs and sustainability practices with various groups and NGOs in KL and beyond.
I think my biggest takeaway from all four years teaching refugees was that these children/teens are no different to us in terms of their willingness to learn. I learned that I am quite privileged to go to a school like ISKL and be able to learn with the facilities that they had. I am also quite happy to have been able to give back!
Offering !Kontakte pro bono wasn’t ever a debate we had – we have a platform that could help organize more people on a daily basis, resulting in more supplies reaching the frontlines and the vulnerable communities. If there ever was a time for the community to come together, it is now.
We had to organize this experience fairly quickly as the food needs were urgent. So far, 38 people have donated, with the total fundraised being RM11,855.

At the end of the first week of school in KL he said, ‘Wow, I have more friends after one week at ISKL than after an entire year in the states!
I had to adjust to not having an audience to interact with when delivering my speeches. I also had to learn how to coordinate, communicate and use the camera to the best effect. It was quite a challenge to display the same competitive fire when trying to get into that mindset
This event invited students, educators, and parents from the Klang Valley and other parts of Malaysia to make a difference in their communities and beyond, regarding the local issues of global importance that relate to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
