ISKL dancers are peppered with lots of different workshop opportunities to help them grow in their dance abilities. Workshops are offered throughout the year by a variety of dancers, including alumni, guest artists, teachers, parents, and students themselves!
Our CAS project is about reintroducing the School-Wide Learning Results (SLR)’s to HS students with soft skills to be utilized for any problems they may face, be it in school or outside our ISKL community.
We took valuable feedback from ES, MS, HS teachers, and MS & HS students, together with anecdotal parent feedback across the schools. From that experience, we learned that expectations needed to be more clear, and it is essential to have a planning day or planning time for virtual learning to be in place
The large cast and production staff, along with a host of parent and teacher volunteers, made this huge endeavor the single biggest extracurricular activity in the school!
It is a slice-of-life romantic comedy with lots of third culture themes and the book features cameos from tons of ISKL alumni like Jon Morrison, Andre Slaatta, Ed Moline (’03), Andrew Smith (’05)
Christian was a French teacher at ISKL from 1993 to 2003, then went on to teach in Vietnam, Laos and Tunisia.
He was then deployed to Puerto Rico by the Disaster Emergency Medical Personnel System (DEMPS) of the Department of Veterans Affairs to assist in relief efforts after the January earthquake.
He says the draw of ISKL has always been about the people. He explains, “I honestly think it’s the fact that I established such close friendships. My closest friends now are my classmates from 2001.”
Their two sons, Matt and Andrew, graduated from ISKL, and Andrew, who now teaches in Vancouver, even married his Grade 9 sweetheart, Ashly Kissman. Now that’s a lovely story!
It’s her passion for dogs that is grabbing attention with Sally gaining a reputation as a leading dog trainer, especially for working dogs in urban environments. Sally was featured in this month’s edition of the Gold Coast Get It magazine.
