Head of School News comes to you this week from the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) Heads Institute (April 27-29) where I am joined by leaders from across our region to learn from each other and strengthen ties between our schools. Forums such as this provide an invigorating opportunity to discuss, debate, and share ideas that can be implemented to benefit our students and school.

Another invigorating forum I had the pleasure of attending earlier this week (April 25) was our PTA’s Annual General Meeting! The PTA plays such an important role in our community and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the many parents who volunteered their time to support the PTA’s amazing line-up of activities and events during the year. I also thank and welcome all those who have volunteered to help next year, including Alex Chan who we are delighted will continue as PTA President in 2023-2024. We look forward to another successful and fun year under her leadership.

The fundraising events organized by the PTA make a huge difference to the strength of our dynamic and inclusive community and embody our culture of empathy and care. The generous donation to the Inspire Campaign announced at the AGM is deeply appreciated and will be used to provide a margin of excellence for our students and school. The Inspire Campaign is a dedicated fund established to enable community members to collaboratively give back to ISKL for the benefit of current and future students. Funds are used to complement our curriculum and include new programs, visiting artists, coaches, and experts, as well as enhancing student learning environments.

A very big thank you also to all the parents who showed their appreciation at the annual PTA Faculty & Staff lunch yesterday (April 27). Due to the EARCOS Heads Institute, I was sadly unable to attend, however, I have heard from many that the lunch was (as always) a culinary extravaganza and a wonderful example of the cultural diversity we all enjoy at ISKL. It is truly rewarding to feel so appreciated and on behalf of all our faculty and staff – I share a very heartfelt thank you.
