HoS News August 19, 2022

Rami with Elementary School students Selamat datang! Welcome to our new academic year and the first Head of School News for 2022-2023. It is great to be back!

On behalf of all of us here at ISKL, I extend a very warm welcome to our returning families and a special hello to our 224 new families and the 330 new students joining us this semester. You have joined a school with a positive, caring, and collaborative community and we are very much looking forward to getting to know you and your family.

Our PTA, led by Co-presidents Tracy Caton and Alex Chan, is integral to making ISKL such a special place. My thanks to all those involved in organizing such an amazing program of events for the year including this week’s New Parent Assist and Welcome Coffee for Parents and tomorrow’s (August 20) Back to School Bash. We are truly grateful for the support the PTA provides to our students and families – you make an invaluable contribution to our inclusive and dynamic community.

We begin this year united by our new Guiding Statements and four-year Strategic Plan which we launched at the end of last semester following an extensive period of research and community collaboration. We are excited about our future and working with you to support your children’s learning journey. The two-way partnership between school and parents is core to supporting student learning, connecting our community, and building shared understanding and expectations. Over the course of the year, we will be providing plenty of opportunities to learn and grow together including our Open House events next week and our first Head of School and Parents in Partnership session on September 7 when we will be discussing the role our school’s values play in helping students make good decisions and exploring the importance of common practices.

I look forward to seeing you at one of the many events we have planned and to sharing a great year of learning ahead.

In partnership
