– The Supportive Panther
“My most memorable experience was in the old campus, where we had Kamala Harris, the current United States of America Vice-President, visit our old campus. That was a fantastic moment that I will never forget.”
Meet Komathi Perumal, the Elementary Assistant (ES) Admin Assistant at ISKL, who has been part of the community since August 2012. Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, Komathi is a proud mother of two children and is a self-proclaimed ‘foodie’ who loves spending time with her friends.
Here is Komathi’s story:
Tell us more about yourself.
I am from Kuala Lumpur. I have two kids, aged 18 and 14, and my husband works at Veritas Design Group. I went to Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kampung Batu for my primary school and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Perempuan in Jalan Ipoh for my secondary years. I graduated with a Diploma In HR from Cybernetic College.
Before joining ISKL, I worked at the International School of Music for 13 years as an Assistant Librarian.
When and why did you join ISKL?
I had the opportunity to work on both the old and new campuses. I joined ISKL on August 11, 2012, marking 11 years of being part of the ISKL community!
I chose ISKL to further my future in a reputable and friendly environment. I also started my career at ISKL at Front Desk and was privileged to be promoted to a new position as Elementary School (ES) Admin Assistant in 2021.
What has been your most memorable moment so far at ISKL?
My most memorable experience was in the old campus, where we had Ms. Kamala Harris, the current United States of America Vice President, visit our old campus. That was a fantastic moment that I will never forget.
Can you tell us about your job role – what are your daily activities?
As an admin assistant, my daily routines are to ensure that the office tasks are done, e.g., tardiness of students, exit passes, communicating with parents, faculty, and staff, and assisting the Principal and Assistant Principal. I also enjoy being with the students at recess, where I do duties with multiple grade levels and help organize functions around the ES Divisions.
Can you tell us about anything exciting or interesting happening at ISKL that you’re a part of (or something you are working on right now)?
As I write, I am now preparing for the new faculty members that have arrived. My tasks are to prepare all the necessary materials and update the newbies in the system.
Can you tell us more about your hobbies and interests? What do you do after work?
I am a foodie, and I like to try new things and different foods. I love Malaysian food; my favorite is nasi lemak, and my colleagues love to buy or treat me with all types of nasi lemak! Meeting and hanging out with friends for tea is a must after work. On weekends most of the time, I am at home doing chores, watching TV, and sleeping.
