Parents and ISKL In Partnership
There are a great many people that make ISKL such a special place – our wonderful students, supportive parents, and talented faculty and staff. Together, they create a remarkable community focused on achieving our mission and vision. Nowhere was this more evident than on Wednesday evening at our Meet the Candidates session and The Society’s Annual General Meeting.
One of the (many!) differentiating factors about ISKL is the fact that we are a not-for-profit school with a governing body of a Board of Directors comprising parent volunteers who are elected by parents. This is one of the defining aspects of ISKL and is pivotal in enabling us to keep our students at the center of our decision-making.
My thanks to our PTA for hosting the Meet the Candidates session and managing the voting process, to our parents who attended for their involvement, to our absentee voters, and of course to each of the parents standing for Board election. My thanks also to 2019-2020 Board members for their contribution to our school, with special recognition to last year’s Board Chairs, Ian Brown and his replacement, Laura Stubblefield, for their amazing support and commitment. Last year presented us with some unique challenges and our Board provided a bedrock of guidance and wise counsel.
It is sometimes easy for us all to forget this very dedicated group of parents is working behind the scenes at ISKL and spending many, many hours of their time serving our community. Their time is given voluntarily and with enthusiasm because they all share a common goal – ensuring ISKL continues to provide the best possible education and learning environment for our students. We are truly fortunate to have such a body of parents so willing to share their expertise and who are so passionate about our school. My thanks to each of our candidates and congratulations to our newly elected Board members who will serve our community for the next three years.
Working in partnership with parents is one of the most treasured aspects of life at ISKL and makes a huge difference to our school. I am happy to announce the launch of a new ISKL In Partnership parent site designed to provide a single source of information about forthcoming (on campus and virtual) ISKL led workshops and information sessions and PTA events and volunteer opportunities. It is also home to all PTA related news.
For the safety of our community and to ensure we comply with SOPs we gently remind parents to come on campus on an as-needed basis and that MoE guidelines do not currently permit parents to use facilities. While we would all dearly like to return to the old normal, our reality for the time being is the new normal and we thank you for your continued support in helping us to keep our community safe. As always, we will keep you informed of any changes to campus access and use of facilities.
In partnership,
Rami Madani
