When we come together as one, as we did at last week’s inspirational International Festival, it is easy to forget that our community is made up of well over 5,000 individuals from every corner of the planet. Every student, every parent, every faculty, and staff member carries with them their own beliefs, ideologies and expectations, and yet at the same time we are all united as a community.
We have talked often about the factors that contribute to this unity – the belief in our vision and mission, our culture of care and empathy, and the joyous celebration of our diversity. There is, however, another shared connection that is part of the very essence and culture of ISKL – the spirit of giving.
Whether student, parent, teacher or staff member, the “giving” of ourselves is part of our culture. We see this spirit embodied every day in and out of our classrooms in so many different forms – time, energy, passion, knowledge, care, and kindness to name just a few. This extraordinary spirit is evident school-wide from the friendly welcome given to a new family joining ISKL all the way through to our alumni giving advice to those who follow in their footsteps. From the causes we believe in, the enthusiasm brought to each day, the knowledge we share, and the time and energy contributed to our school activities, events, and celebrations; the list of the giving that connects us is endless, as is our gratitude for all that each member of our community gives of themselves. We are hugely grateful for the contributions and generosity of giving expressed by our community in every form – time, energy, passion, and financial that enables us to bring these unique additional experiences into the lives and learning of our students.
The spirit of giving in all forms is a common thread that is woven into all that is ISKL and forms the fabric of our very special community. For all you do, for all you give, we want to say thank you. All your contributions, in every form, make ISKL a better school and our community stronger. We are truly grateful.
Yours in collaboration and learning,
Rami Madani
