Embedded within the three Strategic Objectives that will guide us over the next four years – Social & Emotional Learning, Community & Culture, and Operational Excellence – are the strengths and commitments from our past, what we need to respond to in our present, and what will accelerate our growth into the future.
This week our students have been able to benefit from the many strengths from our past that we are once again able to enjoy. From our Seniors participating in Senior Week, 460 tired but happy Grade 9-11 students returning from their Global Action Program experience, Middle School students enjoying an action-packed spirit week making connections and fundraising for Student Council charities, through to Elementary hosting their Deepavali celebrations with cultural presentations and demonstrations, and the artwork of our Prep Senior – Grade 2 students on display for parents to enjoy. It is wonderful to see these programs and activities taking place, each helping our students to develop new competencies, explore interests, and prepare for the future.
My thanks to everyone who joined me for our Head of School and Parents In Partnership session earlier this week when we took another look at the research behind our Values and how we put them into practice each day followed by a Q&A. I very much welcome these opportunities for us to connect, ask questions and learn from each other and it was nice to see both familiar and new faces able to join us. Our next In Partnership event will be on November 16 when we will be exploring another Strategic Objective – Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and looking at how developing SEL competencies and DEIJ mindsets impact academic learning.
In the meantime, I wish a very happy Deepavali to those celebrating this joyous occasion on Monday, and I hope everyone enjoys the break next week. We look forward to seeing our students back on campus on Monday, October 31.
